The Marinemuseum in Den Helder has opened the exhibition Navy Games.
Navy Games shows the special interplay between naval games for entertainment and for training naval personnel. Indeed, the Royal Navy trains with tactical and strategic games, as well as realistic ship and aircraft models.
The exhibition consist of several interactive exhibits. For instance, visitors will have the unique opportunity to sail in an simulator built by the Royal Navy’s Simulation Centre. It also contains a special item of which there are only two complete sets in the whole world, namely the “Janes Naval War Game”. Conceived by British journalist and illustrator Frederick T. Janes in 1898.
