VRAK- Museum of Wrecks has been chosen as one of this year’s three finalists. The museum has been nominated for “Under the Surface”, which includes the themes Sea of Memories and Resande Man.
Motivation of the jury
“In a suggestive, holistic experience below the water’s surface, the visitor enters a world at the bottom of the sea. The story is told by the sea itself. With the Baltic Sea as a guide who sparks the imagination, the visitor is transformed into a maritime archaeologist in a deep dive among algae, shipwrecks and depictions of objects that still rest on the seafloor. Thanks to digital salvaging, Resande Man takes the exhibition medium to new heights.”
The winner will been announced at the spring meeting of the Swedish Museums Association on 26 April in Halmstad. The award will go to the exhibition that best promotes the evolution of exhibitions as a medium in Sweden.
