Interactive Routemixer Achterhoek
Achterhoek Tourism wants to strengthen the route experience for visitors. They also want to inspire visitors to explore new routes. Thanks to the new Routemixers concept, this is already possible at five locations: Winterswijk, Groenlo, Zutphen, Ulft and Lochem. Each Routemixer is similar in look and feel, but the content is adapted to the DNA of the environment.
For example, the Routemixer in Zutphen has been adapted to the theme of Hanzestad and in Winterswijk the theme of National Landscape is central. Ulft is known for its manufacturing industry and Groenlo is all about the 80-year war. Via various buttons and levers, the visitor make a number of choices, such as cycling or walking, which distance and which theme.
Once the choice has been made, a carousel starts running on a touch screen. Various routes pass by, according to the choices made. One gets a route that fits, extensive information, a map with sights, photos and the nodes. Via a QR-code, the route can be scanned on the mobile phone.
Manuel Hezemans, director of Achterhoek Toerism: “Today’s visitors are increasingly looking for experience and customisation. Cycling and walking continue to be incredibly popular. Through the Achterhoekse Routemixers, we combine the two and want to encourage visitors to do more or different things that they had planned. In this way, we continue to surprise visitors and give them new ideas. In doing so, we want to increase the appreciation of our beautiful region.”
