The Palais Galliera, the city of Paris Fashion Museum, reopens its doors and present a unique exhibition of the remarkable fashion designer: Gabrielle Chanel (1882-1971).
Bruns developed and produced specially showcases for this exhibition. An exhibition which starts with a chronological part. It tells the story about her early beginnings with a few emblematic pieces. The visitors are invited to trace the development of Chanel’s chic style: from the little black dresses and sporty models to the sophisticated dresses of the 1930s. One room is devoted entirely to N° 5 the spirit of “Coco Chanel”.
Ten photo portraits of Gabrielle Chanel accompany the ten chapters of the exhibition. One of the chapters is when came the war. The fashion house was closed and the only things still sold in Paris were perfume and accessories. Also a part in her story is when Christian Dior arrived with the trend New Look. Gabrielle Chanel reacted by returning to couture in 1954 and, against the trend, reaffirmed her fashion manifesto.
The second part of the exhibition is themed and the visitors are invited to decipher her dress codes. In totally of the first and second part, the exhibition shows more than 350 pieces over 1500m².
In short ‘Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto’ is an unique exhibition which invited to discover an universe and a style that are timeless.
